Privacy Policy — TrueNotification

Last updated: 02 May 2026

TrueNotification is a parental monitoring application designed exclusively for parents and legal guardians to monitor notifications, app usage, and screen time on their minor child’s device, with the child’s knowledge and explicit, ongoing consent. We are committed to protecting your family’s privacy and handling all data responsibly.

0. Important Notice (Prominent Disclosure)

  • TrueNotification is a parental monitoring app intended for lawful use by parents and legal guardians only.
  • Monitoring requires explicit permission on the child device (Notification Access and Usage Access) granted manually in Android system settings.
  • While monitoring is active, the child device displays a persistent system notification — we do not support covert surveillance, “stealth mode”, stalking, or spying.
  • Child device data is visible only to the paired and authorized parent account.
  • Misuse may violate laws in your jurisdiction. We may suspend or terminate accounts reported for misuse.

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how TrueNotification (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the TrueNotification mobile app and our website. For privacy questions or requests, contact truenotification.help@gmail.com.

2. Sensitive Android Permissions We Use

TrueNotification requires two sensitive Android permissions on the child device to deliver its core features. Both are granted explicitly by the parent or guardian during setup, and are never used for any purpose beyond what is described below. The parent device does not request these sensitive permissions.

2.1 Notification Access (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE)

Why we need it:

  • To read notification metadata (app package name, app name, title, message text, timestamp) on the child’s device.
  • To securely sync those notifications to the paired parent’s account.

What we do NOT do with notification access:

  • We do not read notifications on the parent’s device.
  • We do not share notification content with any third party.
  • We do not intercept, block, dismiss, or modify any notification.
  • We do not retain notifications beyond the documented retention window.

2.2 App Usage & Screen Time Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

Why we need it:

  • To collect app-level screen time data (which apps were used and for how long) on the child’s device.
  • To generate screen time reports and usage dashboards visible only to the paired parent.
  • To help parents understand their child’s digital habits and set healthy boundaries.

What we do NOT do with usage stats:

  • We do not collect browsing history, search queries, or website visits.
  • We do not track precise or approximate location.
  • We do not share usage data with advertisers or any third party.
  • We do not use this data for profiling, ad targeting, or any commercial purpose beyond the parental dashboard.

This permission must be granted manually in Android system settings (Settings → Apps → Special app access → Usage access), ensuring deliberate, informed consent. Revoking it stops collection immediately.

2.3 Foreground Service & Persistent Notification

While monitoring is active, TrueNotification runs a foreground service on the child device and shows a persistent system notification. This makes it clear and visible to the child that monitoring is in progress.

2.4 Permissions We Do NOT Request

We do not use READ_SMS, READ_CALL_LOG, RECORD_AUDIO, CAMERA, READ_CONTACTS, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, or any other dangerous permission. Call and SMS counts shown on the parent dashboard are derived from the app’s notification stream — we never read SMS bodies, call logs, or contact lists.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 From the Parent Account

  • Name and email address (registration / login)
  • Hashed password (we never see your plaintext password)
  • Optional: phone number, profile name
  • Device information — model, OS version, language
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token, used to deliver push alerts
  • Session authentication tokens (stored locally, excluded from cloud backup)
  • Subscription and plan status

3.2 From the Child Device (parent-authorized)

  • Notification metadata — app name, title, message text, timestamp
  • App-level usage statistics — package names + duration per day
  • Screen-on time and unlock count for the day
  • Device identifier (Android ID) for pairing and security
  • Device model and OS version
  • Battery level and online/offline status (for the dashboard)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token, used to deliver pairing pings

3.3 What We Do NOT Collect

  • SMS message bodies or send/receive history
  • Phone call recordings or call log entries
  • Contact lists or address book
  • Photos, videos, or other media files
  • GPS or precise/approximate location
  • Browsing history, URLs, or search queries
  • Microphone or camera input
  • Passwords, payment cards, or banking credentials
  • Children’s personal data for advertising or profiling

4. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to:

  • Sync child notifications and usage data to the paired parent account
  • Render dashboards, reports, and alerts in the parent app
  • Manage your account, subscription, login sessions, and security
  • Deliver push notifications to your devices
  • Maintain service availability, performance, and reliability
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access

We do not use any collected data for behavioural ad profiling, sale to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to providing the parental monitoring service.

5. Data Transmission & Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS encrypted connections. Cleartext (HTTP) traffic is blocked at the app level.
  • Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes — never in plaintext.
  • Session tokens are stored only on-device and excluded from Android cloud backup.
  • Server-side access controls ensure only the paired parent account can read a child’s data.
  • We rate-limit sensitive endpoints to mitigate brute-force and abuse.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service:

  • Notification logs: up to 90 days, then automatically purged.
  • Daily usage / screen-time records: rolling 15-day window.
  • Account data: retained while your account is active. After account deletion, removed from active systems within 30 days (longer only if required by law).
  • Backups: may persist for up to 30 additional days for disaster-recovery purposes.

You can:

  • Delete your account from inside the app (Settings → Request Account Deletion).
  • Revoke Notification Access or Usage Access on the child device at any time — collection stops immediately.
  • Email truenotification.help@gmail.com from your registered address to request data export or deletion. We respond within 30 days.

7. Parental Responsibility & Consent

  • This app is intended exclusively for parents or legal guardians monitoring their own minor children.
  • The child must be made aware that monitoring is active. The app shows a persistent system notification on the child device while monitoring runs.
  • Before enabling monitoring you must ensure you have the legal right to do so under the laws of your jurisdiction.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts reported to be monitoring adults or any person without consent.
  • Monitoring may only be enabled on devices that you own or that you are the legal guardian of.

8. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate the app:

  • Google Firebase — authentication and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notification delivery. Firebase processes the FCM token of each device to route push messages.
  • Google AdMob — advertising shown only to free (non-premium) users. AdMob may collect the device’s advertising identifier, in line with the consent obtained via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) the first time the app launches. Premium subscribers see no ads and the AdMob SDK is not used to load ads for them.
  • Google Play Billing — subscription payments are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card or banking details.
  • Hosting providers — bound by confidentiality and security obligations to host our backend infrastructure.

These services operate under their own privacy policies, including Google’s Privacy Policy.

9. Your Choices & Controls

  • Revoke Notification Access: Android Settings → Apps → Special app access → Notification access → TrueNotification → Off. Stops notification collection immediately.
  • Revoke Usage Access: Android Settings → Apps → Special app access → Usage access → TrueNotification → Off. Stops screen-time collection immediately.
  • Delete account: available inside the app under Settings → Request Account Deletion.
  • Manage ad personalization: use the consent controls presented at first launch, or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
  • Request data export or deletion: email truenotification.help@gmail.com from your registered address.
  • Unpair a device: available from the parent dashboard at any time. Unpairing immediately stops sync from that device.

10. Children’s Privacy

TrueNotification is not directed at children as end users. The app is operated by parents or legal guardians. Notification and usage data collected from a child device is accessible only to the paired parent account and is used solely for the parental monitoring purpose described in this policy. We do not knowingly build advertising profiles on minors or use children’s data for behavioural advertising.

If you believe we have collected data from a child without proper guardian consent, please email truenotification.help@gmail.com and we will promptly review and delete the data.

11. International Transfers

Our backend may be hosted on servers located outside your country of residence. Wherever data is processed, we apply the same security and access-control standards described in Section 5.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may notify you in-app or via email. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
